Actually, they keep using these two words just like this all the time. Hinein one and the same Songtext they use "at a lesson" and "rein class" and my students are quite confused about it.
It is not idiomatic "to give" a class. A class, rein this sense, is a collective noun for all the pupils/ the described group of pupils. "Ur class went to the zoo."
You can both deliver and give a class hinein British English, but both words would be pretentious (to mean to spend time with a class trying to teach it), and best avoided in my view. Both words suggest a patronising attitude to the pupils which I would deplore.

Rein both cases, we can sayToday's lesson (i.e. the subject of today's teaching) was on the ethical dative. I think it's this sense of lesson as the subject of instruction that is causing the Unmut.
